The number of pairs of period underwear you should buy depends on various factors such as your flow, personal preferences, and lifestyle. Here are some general guidelines that can help you determine the right number of pairs:

Light flow: If you have a light flow, you may be able to get away with just one or two pairs of period underwear per cycle.

Medium flow: If you have a medium flow, you might need three to four pairs of period underwear per cycle, so you have a backup in case of leaks.

Heavy flow: If you have a heavy flow, you may need five to six pairs of period underwear per cycle, so you can change them frequently and avoid leaks.

Active lifestyle: If you have an active lifestyle, you may want to consider purchasing more pairs of period underwear, so you can have a backup in case of leaks during physical activity.
